Oshkonversation had quite a lengthy dialogue going regarding scenario 7. Alex has since decided to take down that thread. I have been contacted asking if I would restart the thread here.
A lot of ideas, rumors, and conjecture are flying around right now regarding scenario 7. I am still on the CRT and we do meet with the ASC to review the reports from the planning teams. I am also on one of the planning teams and plan to attend other meetings when I can. From my perspective, what scenario 7 is is simply a work in progress toward a tentative goal of restructuring the district into a more financially efficient and academically superior form compared to what we have now. Everything is in the shaping process and is not set in stone. However, there is a direction toward a K-3, 4-8 configuration of our elementary and middle schools. There is still a plan to close several buildings though the exact number is currently under scrutiny. The buildings targeted for closure have not changed.
The newest piece of information to come out of the meetings is that the expected growth pattern of the city is not entirely accurate. Last night the CRT and ASC were shown a map that included the county owned land and the commercially zoned and anticipated to be commercial land. It looked on the map as though, the residential growth to the south and west is not going to be as great as was thought. Much of that land is anticipated to be commercial. What was open for possible residential development was a small section of the Town of Black Wolf near Lakeside, a section of the Town of Nekimi south of Green Meadow, Casey's Meadow out to about Omro, and area of the Town of Algoma west and north of Oakwood school out to Omro, and Ryf Rd area. However, Dr. Heilmann stated at a citizen held meeting he attended that the Ryf Rd area may not be as developed as anticipated as there was indication that some developers were considering selling their properties as opposed to building homes.
Other than that, everything is still in the development stage for scenario 7. What do you think? Any problems (beside the referendum) you see to elements of the plan? Any suggestions? What do you think the community would support as the ultimate outcome for scenario 7 as will be revealed in October? What are some of the strongest points of the current plan?
