Last night was a small fundraiser to benefit the Winnebago Literacy Council. Don't worry if you missed it. If you care about our community and reading, you can still contribute. The Literacy Council tutors people in reading from families and students to adults. Some people have some reading skills and others have no reading background. Some are coming to our community from other countries and other communities and need help to be able to fill out rental and job applications, health care and school forms. We can't help them alone, so consider helping and doing a little Christmas shopping at the same time.
Apple Blossom Books on North Main Street partnered with me as an Independent Representative for The Pampered Chef to hold a cooking and entertaining demonstration at the the book store. Apple Blossom's owner,Candy Pearson, offered discounts on cookbooks and a percentage of their sales is going to be donated to the Winnebago Literacy Council. For my part, I am donating my commission to the Winnebago Literacy Council. That amounts to 20% of all sales from last night and online by clicking on "Order Products" and clicking Candy's name through Monday or at Apple Blossom Books through Sunday. Catalogues and Order forms are available at Apple Blossom Books and by telephoning me at 233-9878. In addition, home parties booked and held in Nov, Dec, and Jan will get an additional donation of $5 from me to the Literacy Council. Call me at 233-9878 to set a date and dates are going fast (A big thank you to everyone who booked to this point).
The Winnebago Literacy Council depends on our community to accomplish there much needed services. The Literacy Council is an independent, non-profit organization.
