Tonight is the public forum where community members have a chance to address the BOE. It begins at 8pm at the Eagle Street offices. Tomorrow night is the regular BOE meeting which will consist of the censent agenda, reports, and a workshop on the boundary issue. The public will not be allowed to speak at this meeting.
Note: The public forum tonight probably will not be televised as it is a special meeting.
Please pass this information on to anyone you know who may be interested as few people actually know about the meeting change. I was called by a community member last night making sure I knew of the change. She expressed that the ONW and the district website had little to no information on any of this. I checked ONW online this morning and the district website. ONW does not seem to have anything on this change. The OASD website does have information on the meetings and information on the boundary changes to be discussed.
I encourage everyone who has something to say to attend tonight's meeting. If possible attend tomorrow's as well to show your concern with school district affairs and to get whatever information you can from the workshop as it is difficult to know what, if anything, will be in the ONW or on the district website or when.
Another change I was made aware of at a Site Council meeting at Traeger last night was that there may be a change in Traeger's attendance area from being split between Oakwood and Shapiro for K-3 to being split between Oakwood and Franklin. Mrs. Cochran, the principal of Traeger, is on the attendance area committee and commented that she did not know of this change until it was too late to distribute the information to families who would be affected. However, I was made aware by a community member that the high school students received the information to give to families. Interesting in light of past practice to give information to the youngest in the family so the parents actually receive the information.
Hope you are able rearrange your life on short notice to attend tonight and tomorrow.

Oh boy, they posted something on the morning of the meeting. That sure is timely.
Isn't there something that states that they have to public notice these meetings with at least 24 hours notice?
I e-mailed all of the school board members to express my displeasure on the timing. Mr. Schneider is the only response I have gotten thus far, and he was not happy about it either. He was told on Friday about the meeting. It is like the keystone cops over at OASD. I found out about the meeting last night from a notice in my sons paperwork he brought home from school yesterday.
Another thing that was mentioned on the notice that caught my attention was the fact that Oakwood needed to be repaired because rooms have no walls. So we have multiple classes in one big room that are noisy and not conducive to learning? Was this some bright idea years ago that has proven to not work? Probably similar to what will happen down the road when they realize that putting 4-8 together doesnt work!
Hey 8:34. She said "does not seem to." She didn't say they didn't post anything. Besides, we don't know when ONW posted the story or if the headline was moved sometime after people read the paper online. Save your garbage for the loser candidate's website.
To the first poster: I posted this commentary about 6:40 this morning. I was on the ONW website at 6:30 this morning to be sure of whether the meeting change had been posted for the community to see. I just got done combing through the paper version of the ONW. The meeting change is NOT in the paper version of the ONW. At 6:30 this morning the meeting was not on the ONW online version. The meeting was posted to the ONW website later in the morning with their updates between 8:30am and 9am.
Thank you for your interest in my blog.
To the 1:37 poster:
Thank you for your comments. I allowed them because they did not defame anyone nor get personally nasty. However, they were darn close. I do not want this discussion venue to be corrupted like so many others have been allowed and encouraged to become by their administrators.
Thank you.
I see Traeger Elementry sent home notices of Tuesdays nights meeting with the students on Tuesday. Unacceptable! I have heard enough apologies over the past 5 years. At some point we need to hold someone accountable for the pathetic communication skills of this district.
Michelle. I know this thread is regarding the School Boards shortfall with communication, but I have another issue that I would like to discuss.
Is it legal for a School Board member to be delinquent in her taxes and be on the School Board? According to the City of Oshkosh’s website Amy Weinsheim has unpaid taxes. How can Mrs. Weinsheim keep voting to raise my taxes and I have to pay them, while she raises taxes and doesn’t pay hers? Shame on Amy Weinsheim for not paying her taxes!
I would like to know if she can serve on the School Board with delinquent taxes. Can you please look into this please?
Thanks Michelle and keep fighting the “business as usual” School Board. I hope you get elected the next time you run!!!
